From thrilling victories to invaluable lessons, 2024 has been a year of growth, resilience, and achievement for HCFencing
From this year’s National School Games to many other competitions, our athletes have truly shown their talent, passion, and commitment. Let’s take a look back at some of the highlights that made this year unforgettable.
This year’s National School Games was one of the biggest milestones for our fencers. Competing against the best young athletes from across the country, our teams gave stellar performances, with our boy’s team emerging second place and our girl’s team emerging first place for the first time in the history of HCFencing!
We would like to extend our gratitude to the people who have made this possible. To our teachers, who ensured the smooth running of our CCA, thank you. To our coaches, who have been with us through every step of our fencing journey, thank you. To our seniors, who took time off their busy schedules to teach and support us, thank you. Truly, we stand on the shoulders of giants.
For the Batch of 23/24, this was, very sadly, our last competition together as one team. Over the past 1.5 years, whilst we have bled, sweat and cried together, we have also laughed, played and cheered together. Those memories are what’s here to stay.
Our hearts will remain ablaze as we draw our blades towards what lies ahead; as one batch, as one team, as one HCFencing. Let the next chapter begin!
Beyond the National School Games, this year saw our athletes participating in a series of competitions. Each event was a stepping stone towards excellence, providing opportunities to sharpen techniques, gain experience, and foster camaraderie.
One such event was the NTU Invites 2024, where our fencers fought hard against experienced fencers across a multitude of schools.
It was truly an exciting and enriching experience, especially since it was the first competition for many of us.
Congrats to all our medalists for putting on an extraordinary performance at NTU!
Most recently, during October, our team also collaborated with Singapore Polytechnic Fencing for a sparring session!
Huge thanks to SP Fencing for helping to make this happen, we’re sure both teams have learnt a lot and gained more experience from this joint sparring opportunity!
Looking Ahead
As we reflect on our achievements, we also turn our gaze toward the future. HCFencing is already hard at work, preparing for the next season with renewed energy.
